PIHMS is based in New Plymouth, nestled between the majestic Mount Taranaki and the scenic West Coast, mid-way between Auckland and Wellington .

PIHMS aims to meet the demand for specialised hospitality management education and training by producing graduates with professional and personal skills at the highest level. The school provides a unique learning environment that gives students the right skills, knowledge and experience to take up a career in the hospitality industry anywhere in the world.

As well as academic study, students gain real experience from hands-on learning. Students run PIHMS as a fully functioning hotel; they learn to operate the various departments of a hotel and to manage the different business aspects of the hotel industry. Paid industry placements in hotels in New Zealand and overseas is an integral element of the training. This well balanced educational programme combines practical skills, theoretical knowledge, and personal development to New Zealand and international industry standards. PIHMS is a member of the Leading Hotel Schools of the World network.

 Applicants for whom English is not their first language will have an IELTS score of 6.5, or equivalent. (no band score lower than 6).

Applicants require an appropriate Bachelor Level 7 degree in either business, management or a related hospitality area. Degrees in other disciplines may be considered if the applicant has 2 - 3 years relevant hospitality experience at a supervisory level, or equivalent.

The school offers spacious twin share hotel style accommodation with en-suite facilities; meals are served at the PIHMS La Vista restaurant offering fine dining and a-la-carte experiences.

Rooms are well equipped for study with broadband Wi-Fi access in all rooms and across the campus. The rooms are serviced once a week, and linen and towels are provided.You can apply for a single room, subject to availability at an additional cost.

All student accommodation contains the following amenities: heaters, toweling, bedding, broadband Wi-Fi, desk and chair, well-appointed bathroom, kettle, fridge, bedside cabinet, drawers and wardrobe. Students have access to laundry facilities on each hotel floor. Free on-site car parking, and electronic security.
