Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology is an amalgamation of two high performing institutions – Bay of Plenty Polytechnic in Tauranga, and Waiariki Institute of Technology in Rotorua. The institutions merged in May 2016 to better meet the education and employment needs of the region.
The institution's five main campuses are in Rotorua, Taupo, Tauranga, Tokoroa, and Whakatane. Toi Ohomai has more than 68 delivery sites around the Bay of Plenty and South Waikato.
Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology is the key tertiary provider in the beautiful Bay of Plenty, centrally located on the North Island.
The institute is home to almost 14,000 students, more than 1,000 staff, and offers more than 240 programmes over 71 delivery sites.

If you want to study towards a Bachelor Degree (excluding teaching degrees), Certificate of Proficiency, Undergraduate Certificate or Diploma, or Graduate Certificate or Diploma you must have one of the following:
• IELTS Academic with an average score of 6.0, with a minimum of 5.5 in reading, writing, listening and speaking
If you want to study towards a postgraduate qualification, eg a Postgraduate Diploma, Masters, or PhD you must have one of the following:
• IELTS Academic with an average score of 6.5, with a minimum of 6.0 in reading, writing, listening and speaking
Applicants must be high school graduates with acceptable results in relevant subjects. Special conditions apply to some qualifications and to students under 18 years of age.
Applications for study at level 7 (degree, graduate diploma)
• Official/provisional certificate and all transcripts as evidence you have completed a degree or 3 year diploma
Applications for study at level 8 (postgraduate)
• Official/provisional certificate and all transcripts as evidence you have completed a degree or 3 year diploma in 1st or 2nd division
Applications for study at level 9 (master's)
• Official/provisional certificate and all transcripts proving the student has completed a degree or 3 year diploma in 1st or 2nd division
There are a number of accommodation choices available to you:
Live in one of the Toi Ohomai Houses (shared residences) next to Windermere Campus or stay in purpose built student flats close by to Windermere Campus or check out all private accommodation listings.
Tangatarua Hall of Residence is located next to Mokoia Campus. Situated in a park-like setting with mature landscaping and open spaces, the hall offers students affordable housing within walking distance to your courses on Mokoia Campus. The hall is open to all students and offers an ideal alternative to commuting from other areas.
The homestay option is especially recommended for students studying English. This will provide you with an opportunity to practice your English in a real world situation. Living in a family environment will also aid your adjustment to life in New Zealand.
